NEW SPRING SCHEDULE:

THURS FEB 23. 6-8PM: BASICS. $150
this class is an introductory class for the beginner. we will start with the basics of color selection and compositional design. we will be creating a lush arrangement using seasonal blooms, interesting texture, and other fresh ingredients!

WED FEB 29. 6-8PM: VICTORIAN ASYMMETRY. $200
in this class we will make a lush arrangement that is supremely eclectic. learning to use the power of light and dark blooms will help us to create a masterpiece that is both asymmetrical and elaborate.

THURS MARCH 8. 6-8PM: OASIS DESIGN. $150
this class will teach the art of using floral foam. learning this technique will open the door to creating floral sculptures, wreaths, pedestal arrangements, and more!

WED MARCH 28. 6-8PM: WEDDING WORKSHOP. $250
this class is for the bride-to-be, budding floral designer, wedding planner, or anyone with a passion for flowers! we will create personal work for the bridal party: bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages...oh my! we will be using wire, tape, ribbons, and pins along with seasonal blooms.

WED APRIL 4. 6-8PM: BASICS. $150

in this class we will use a unique vintage vase from our collection to create a lush and wild arrangement reminiscent of a frolic through the fields! focus is on loose and wild design in unusually shaped vessels.

WED MAY 23. 6-8PM: WEDDING WORKSHOP. $250

“Fall is here, which means everyone is gearing up for Fair season! We were so inspired by the fun and excitement of the State Fair of Texas that we created an entire styled shoot around it. We used a warm color palette of yellow, orange, pink and red throughout the design.

We built an awning to shade the sweets bar and decorated it with handmade paper pinwheels and bunting. Sugar Bee Sweets designed a delicious yellow buttercream cake, accented with cascading fondant ribbons. In addition to the pies, cake, and plethora of candy there were corn dogs, pretzels and popcorn for guests wanting to snack on something savory.

The head table was “picnic chic” with a red and white table cloth, hand painted plates, and stunning floral by Bows and Arrows. Tall glass pillars were filled with popcorn and topped with pomanders made of ruffled carnations and cymbidium orchids. Smaller arrangements of dahlias and chamomile were placed in paper wrapped vintage cans. Each cocktail glass had a pennant-wrapped paper straw that doubled as a place card and each plate was topped with a mini cherry or pecan pie.

The bride held an ombre Biedermeier ranunculus bouquet with vintage velvet ribbon and wore a three tiered tulle gown by Rosa Clara.

The playful save the date by Southern Fried Paper showcased a state fair classic: the corn dog. It was backed with red gingham. The invitation featured cheery yellow stripes and vintage typography.” - Chelsea with Southern Fried Paper

our breakfast club shoot is featured on 100 layer cake! yea!

for this shoot, we were inspired by the morning light, the wash of brightness and the subtleness of colors. the morning is so soft, sweet, and quiet. the feel of this shoot was very casual and intimate, yet packed with detail and personality. we used shades of white on white with honey colored accents to create a very light and layered fresh morning look. our goal was to create something new using something old. we combined vintage milkglass, mix-matched china, striped paper straws, ceramic fruit crates, paper garland, and a table runner of cotton bolls. all paper products were created on vintage letter press machines, flowers are mostly locally sourced cotton, wheats, and millets packed with peony and ranunculus, and homemade donuts completed our brunchtopia!

whether spending a day at the races or a day at the stables, horses evoke a striking natural beauty that impacts the atmosphere, and brings back memories from childhood. we chose to set up a wedding atmosphere in the stables that was casual, rustic, intimate, heartfelt and yet, over-the-top! we broke the barrier vintage rustic chic by using super lush garden flowers, vintage letterpressed paper products, a precious assortment of cakes, fancy intricate hand calligraphy, a couture gown, and quirky luxe gold accents! every detail was nailed!

dinner table scape:
Gold trophy vases packed with blooms in shades of reds and pinks included garden roses, peony, amaryllis, tulips, anemone, and jasmine. Letterpressed menus were regal with a pale pink wreath encircling a golden horse and horseshoe. Place cards were eclectic, a mix of papers paired with different inks made everyones' table setting unique.

Miniature hand-made awards with the guests' name and table number scrolled in calligraphy were displayed on a bed of red carnations.

cake table:
A decadent assortment of single tier cakes embellished with award-winning sugar ribbons, frilly butter cream flowers, and detailed trimming set upon vintage milkglass pedestals surrounding a colossal trophy packed with fresh blooms in the horse arena. A feast for the eyes, indeed.

Photographer, Catie Ronquillo and Designer/Planner, Elizabth Gonzalez from After Yes, put on their second shootout this February. The shootout gives photographers (new and pro) a portfolio building opportunity as well as a chance to network connect with other photographers. Such a fun idea!

take a look at a recent collaborative shoot...

"Like something from my favorite storybook as a young girl, our photoshoot captures the innocence of a young bride, gathering a few of her favorite belongings and using them to create an effortless, intimate wedding affair in her own pasture. Every detail is based on timeless vintage pieces from an era long gone, but never forgotten. Freshly gathered floral arrangements bountiful in heirloom fruits such as tomatillos, citrus, and raspberries with blooms gathered straight from the feilds. A lovely cake wrapped with a fondant bow and dressed with delicate sugar lace piping. Delicate, sweet, and organic invitations and place cards set the tone for a family gathering that is charming and laidback.

Authentic vintage place settings, complete with 1940’s head vases bursting with a white duchess peony, burplap wrapped silverware atop antique napkins, and a delicious heirloom bosc pear place card holder sat atop a table strewn with antique bridal lace. Original cameras, radios, fans, lamps and baroque baubles circa 1930-1940 gave a nod to things of old and timeless romance.

Add trunks, old hat boxes, suitcases and I can see the heroin from my favorite book as a child... Anne. Anne of Green Gables, in front of her lovely green couch holding her luscious bridal boquet, resplendent with fluffy white cotton, blooming ranunculus, all tied with an vintage ribbon and trim... and waiting for her own storybook ending."

SPRING WORKSHOPS

Each class this spring is centered around one seasonal spring bloom! Students will design arrangements using the highlighted class flower along with other shop selections. Every class will be different, so why not sign up for a few…pick your favorites! All classes are appropriate for both beginners and advanced designers. You will learn care and conditioning of flowers and design a lush arrangement using seasonal blooms, interesting texture, and other fresh ingredients! And, you go home with an original creation! WED FEB 9. 6-8PM: ROSES
This class was chosen for the classic romantic. We will be using a traditional Valentine’s favorite, the rose, and making a not so traditional arrangement! Fall in love with the packed petals and light fragrance of the rose…

WED FEB 16. 6-8PM: TULIPS
Once a currency in Holland, the tulip, has become iconic and will never go out of fashion. Tulips have simple modern lines and an ever-changing bloom. Learn some secrets and tips about tulips as you make an arrangement out of this legend.

THURS FEB 17. 6-8PM: WEDDING WORK
This class is for the bride-to-be, wedding planner, or anyone with a passion for flowers! Beginners welcome! You will learn how to create personal work for the bridal party: bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages...oh my! we will use seasonal blooms, interesting texture, and other fresh ingredients! and, of course, you go home with a few original creations!

THURS MARCH 3. 6-8PM: HYDRANGEA
Nature’s Petticoat! One of my all time favorites for that reason! Design a gorgeous, lush, garden sent creation out of the frilly bloom and learn the care and maintenance of this sometimes fickle flower.

THURS MARCH 24. 6-8PM: SUCCULENTS AND TALLANDSIA
This class will teach students how to use hearty plants in flower arrangements. We will incorporate long lasting favorites such as succulents and tallandsia among other seasonal blooms and interesting textures to create an arrangement that is out of this world!

WED APRIL 6. 6-8PM: FLOWERING BRANCHES
A rare and short-lived treasure of Dallas, flowering branches are pure magic! Watch them develop, change, and reveal their true color right before your eyes! Mix branches into your arrangements to create something woodsy, organic, and thoughtful!

WED APRIL 20. 6-8PM: SWEET PEA
Just like the name, a sweet pea is sweet in smell and demeanor. The oh-so petite blooms are so fragile and delicate, who wouldn’t swoon over its beauty? Use the frills in masses and clusters or separate single stems between other blooms…either way they add a ballerina movement to any arrangement!

WED MAY 4. 6-8PM: RANUNCULUS
Petals, Petals, Petals! The ranunculus has an abundant maze of petals that will put you in a trance! They come in a variety of colors and sizes with a long lasting romantic bloom that continues to open up as you continue to enjoy them! Even the toughest flower critic is a fan.

WED MAY 11. 6-8PM: PEONY
Everyone’s favorite flower, the peony, does indeed pack a punch! This timeless flaunting beauty makes any arrangement swoon-worthy!
